PREPARATIONS FOR THE ROLL OUT OF THE BIOMETRIC PASSPORTS REGIME
The Embassy of the Republic of Ghana, Rome, wishes to inform the general public that preparations are far advanced towards the issuance of biometric passports here in Rome. This requires the setting up of the system and training of the Consular staff. In addition, the completion of all the administrative procedures to ensure the smooth transition to the new system for effective commencement of the regime.
In this regard, the Consular Section will, as of close of day, Friday 14th August, 2020, cease the issuance of Machine Readable Passports. The Consular Section will however, continue to provide all other Consular Services such as the provision of Citizenship Registration Card, Nulla Osta, Authentication and Legalization.
The Embassy will in due course, advise the general public regarding the date for the commencement of the Biometric Passport Regime and procedures thereof.
Meanwhile, the Embassy seizes this opportunity to thank the Ghanaian Community and the leadership of the various Associations for their support, accommodation and respect for the measures instituted over the past few months. This has made it possible for the Embassy to attend to the significant number of our compatriots who desired to take advantage of the amnesty offered by the Italian Government in order to regularize their stay. The concerted efforts of all which ensured a successful process is deeply appreciated.
