A Delegation of the Republic of Ghana, led by the Hon. Sherry Ayitey, Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development and H.E. Molly Anim-Addo, Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana to Italy, concluded its successful participation at the Blue Sea Land 2015, the main Expo of Mediterranean, African and Middle Eastern Agro Food Clusters held in Mazara del Vallo
from 8th to 11th October 2015, with the signing of an MOU on Cooperation in the Fishing Cluster between the Ministry of Fisheries of the Republic of Ghana and the Fishing Production District of Mazara del Vallo.
The Embassy of Ghana was instrumental in linking the Ministry of Fisheries of Ghana with the Fishing Cluster of Mazara del Vallo, with the view to strengthening relationships between the two countries through the development of scientific and technological cooperation in the fishing cluster, as well as the development of mutually beneficial projects such as quality controls and laboratory analysis for fish quality & health, certification services and development of sea safety structures, fishing activity focusing on fishing systems that respect the marine environment and its resources, shipyards (technical collaboration on construction and maintenance of fishing boats), electronic and mechanical workshops, boat equipment stores, training schools, processing of fish waste and fish processing, packaging plants and aquaculture, among others.
